This course:

  • Makes use of the free Microsoft Power BI Desktop application
  • Concentrates on the creation of data models and the manipulation of data: o Transforming Data Sets o Data Cleansing o Data Mashup o Creating Data Models o Extending the data with Calculated Columns and Measures o Analyzing data over Time
  • Gives the delegates an overview of using diverse data sources, as well as an introduction to the creation of Organizational Content Packs
  • Will make some use of DAX


IT staff, technical business analysts, database administrators, data analysts, BI specialists, knowledge workers, and those involved in the maintenance of the master data model of the company


The Power BI Desktop course is a pre-requisite for the course. Alternatively, delegates should have at least 3 months experience in using Power BI Desktop for creating reports and dashboards The delegates be experienced in accessing different data sources, including Excel workbooks and Microsoft SQL Server. The delegates may have experience in building data models, using ETL, cleaning data and creating new data columns and measures.

Delivery Method

Instructor Led classroom based training. Scheduled classes are normally held in Woodmead - near to Sandton in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. Stationary and textbook included.
