Details

Both Microsoft (R) Power BI and Excel Power Pivots use DAX (Data Analysis eXpression Language) in order to analyze and transform data. To become a power user of either platform, a functional knowledge of DAX is essential.

This course will build on your knowledge of either Power BI or Power Pivot creating more advanced formulas for your reports and dashboards.  In this course you will learn to:

  • Understand the structure of a DAX formula
  • Use different types of DAX functions
  • Understand the "evaluation contexts" for filters and rows 
  • Understand the role of the Calendar table and use advanced time-intelligence functions
  • Use variables to improve the performance and readability of your formulas.
  • Use the ABC ("Pareto") chart

This course is intended for people who have been working with:

  • Power BI,
  • Excel Power Pivot
  • SSAS Tabular

 

Pre-Requisites

The Power BI boot camp course is a pre-requisite for the course. Alternatively, delegates should have at least 3 months experience in using Power BI Desktop for creating reports and dashboards.

The newest version of the Power BI Desktop software is required. If you want assistance in installing the software on your laptop, please ensure that you have Administration Privileges on your laptop. Please arrive 1h early on the first day of the course, so that we can assist you.
