Interchangeable Course
This course prepares you for the LPI Linux Essentials Exam, You will learn the essential concepts of the Linux operating system. On completion you will:
- have an understanding of the Linux and open source industries and knowledge of the most popular open source Applications;
- understand the major components of the Linux operating system, and have the technical proficiency to work on the Linux command line; and
- have a basic understanding of security and administration related topics such as user/group management, working on the command line, and permissions.
Concepts taught in this course are pre-requisites for the System Administration, Networking and Security courses.
The Linux Networking course covers the configuration, use and troubleshooting of various network services making use of command-line networking tools which are available for the Linux platform. The course will help you to get past the initial hurdles to using Linux in the server environment.
This course will help prepare you to write the first of two exams needed to achieve the LPIC-1 certification. This course covers the 101-500 objectives.
On completion you will:
- understand the architecture of a Linux system;
- install and maintain a Linux workstation and package management
- work at the Linux command line, including common GNU and Unix commands;
- handle devices, Linux filesystems, and navigate around the filesystem.
This course is a follow-on from System Administration 1.
This course will help prepare you to write the second of two exams needed to achieve the LPIC-1 certification. This course covers the 102-500 objectives.
On completion you will:
- Work with the bash shell and write basic shell scripts
- Install and configure X11 and understand different desktop environments
- Administer users and groups, localise a system and schedule commands
- Work with essentials system services including system time, logs, MTA, printers and networking fundamentals
- Perform security administration tasks, work with SSH and encryption

Should we not get enough delegates, we will refund or credit your paid booking.

- If you have fewer delegates and cannot pay for 6, we can negotiate a shortened course where some of the time will be spent in blended learning - watching videos and doing tutorials and exercises with some contact time with the trainer. We would want to discuss what your core needs are so that we cover those aspects. You need to have paid for 3 delegates at least.
