This Accredited Leadership bundle course comprises 2 courses: Topic 1 is Leadership Essentials and Topic 2 is The Professional Manager. Together they form Module 2 - Leadership, in the Generic Management Level 5 qualification ID 59201, Learning Programme 60269. The total duration is 5 days of training. This can be done as a webinar or as a classroom-based course, and assessments are included. The total credit value is 18 credits towards the Generic Management qualification.

The first topic focuses on leadership - both its theories and in practice and is aligned to cover the specific outcomes of unit standard 120300 - Analyse leadership and related theories in a work context.  The second topic moves on to effective management skills - through building teams, delegation and effective performace monitoring against set goals and objectives.  This course meets the specific outcomes of two unit standards - 252037 - Build teams to achieve goals and objectives, and 15224 - Empower team members through recognising strengths, encouraging participation in decision making and delegating tasks.

This course will enable learners to gain insight into the role of leadership within a work context, and thus providing them with the skills and knowledge to add value to one's job.

The qualifying learner is capable of:

  • Explaining the concept of leadership
  • Differentiating between leadership and management
  • Analysing and comparing leadership theories
  • Applying the different roles and qualities of leadership in a work context

The Unit standards covered are:

  • 252037 - Build teams to achieve goals and objectives at NQF level 5 for 6 credits
  • 15224 - Empower team members through recognizing strengths, encouraging participation in decision making, and delegating tasks, at NQF level 5 for 4 credits.  

Together, both unit standards covered in this practical course contribute 10 credits towards the Leadership Module of the National Certificate: Generic Management, Qualification ID: 59201

Audience

This would suit any person in management or leadership who needs a formal management qualification.  The course blends leadership best-practice and current methodology and is taught by experienced and effective managers.

Pre-Requisites

Communication skills at NF level 4 is a pre-requisite for enrolment on this course.

Some experience in leading people or teams in an organisation, is preferable.

We work on an LMS to manage course content and assessments and so having your own laptop or computer, access to the internet and basic computer and word processing skills are essential.
