Course Overview on LPI Linux Essentials: Open-Source Careers & Command Line

This course provides a foundational understanding of the Linux community and careers within the open-source ecosystem. Students will gain practical skills in navigating Linux systems, managing directories, and handling files. Additionally, the curriculum introduces essential security concepts and the management of file permissions.

This course covers the content of the LPI Exam 010-160 (Linux Essentials version 1.6). This course prepares you to write that exam, but the exam is not included in the course cost. 

What You Will Learn

On completion, you will know:

  • The evolution of Linux and popular operating systems.

  • How to use directories and list files using the command line.

  • Techniques for creating, moving, and deleting files, including the use of wildcards and globs.

  •       The power of the command line, specifically redirection, operators, and pipes.

  •       Fundamental security principles and how to manage file permissions and ownership.

Concepts taught in this course are prerequisites for the System Administration, Networking and Security courses.
