Course Outline / Curriculum

Content

  • Audience
    • The first step to an effective presentation is quality content. This needs to be based on a solid understanding of your audience.
  • Start with the Basics
    • Use simple but effective structure to make your presentation understandable and memorable.
  • Start with “Why?”
    • Find ways to convince your audience by aligning your values with theirs.
  • Elements of a Successful Presentation
    • Learn the 6 key elements of a successful presentation
  • Slide Design Tips
    • Learn simple design principles to make sure your slides are helpful and beautiful
  • Learning to improvise
    • Expect the unexpected: improvisation is a skill that needs practise, and we will do just that.

State Management

  • About Nervousness
    • Understanding why we get nervous is the first step to controlling nerves and using them.
  • Positive self-talk
    • Getting into the right mindset is crucial for peak presentation performance. We’ll look at ways to do that.

Body Language

  • Interpreting Body Language
    • Understanding the expressions you see can be tricky. We will look at mistakes to avoid when observing your audience.
  • Mastering Non-Verbal Communication
    • Gestures, posture, dress-code, and eye contact are all key features of communication. We will make sure you know what to do.

Your Speaking Voice

  • The Importance of Good Vocals
    • Your voice is your ID card; it tells your audience how you feel and what to focus on.
  • Improving Vocals
    • Understanding how your voice works will help you use it. We will use a vocal warmup to practice and perfect our voice.
  • Emphasis
    • Emphasising helps us to avoid monotony. We’ll look at how and what to emphasise.

Putting it into Practice

  • Final Presentation
    • Finally, you will have the opportunity to practice your new skills in a short presentation and receive feedback on how to improve.

Add me to the waiting list

Should you need this course urgently, the following options are available:

  1. Pay for 6 delegates (whether you have them or not) and we will schedule the course as soon as possible.
  2. If you have fewer delegates and cannot pay for 6, we can negotiate a shortened course where some of the time will be spent in blended learning - watching videos and doing tutorials and exercises with some contact time with the trainer. We would want to discuss what your core needs are so that we cover those aspects. You need to have paid for 3 delegates at least.
