Leadership Essentials provides emerging and aspiring leaders with a strong foundation in the core principles and practices of effective leadership. This two-day course explores what leadership is, how it differs from management, and why both are essential for organisational success.
Learners are introduced to key leadership theories and styles, and guided to reflect on their own leadership qualities, responsibilities, and areas for development. Through practical analysis of real-world leaders and workplace scenarios, participants learn to apply leadership concepts in their own work context and develop a personal leadership development plan.
This course is aligned to meet the specific outcomes of unit standard 120300, at NQF level 5 for 8 credits. It is the first topic in the Leadership Module of the National Certificate: Generic Management SAQA ID: 59201. The course covers the basics of leadership from definition to theories and application in a work context.
